  Our Mission

James Vetterlein
James Vetterlein co-founded Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. in 1995. Mr. Vetterlein has over 20 years of traffic data collection experience in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Vetterlein played a key role in the growth of Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. making them one of the largest traffic data collection companies on the east coast with over 30 employees, 20 company vehicles and an inventory of over 500 ATR counters.

Prior to starting Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc, Mr. Vetterlein was employed as the principal transportation planner with the Delaware County Planning Department in the suburban Philadelphia area. Mr. Vetterlein directed a staff of four transportation planners that performed a wide range of traffic planning and data collection projects. These projects include developing the first inventory of highway improvement needs, developing traffic growth rates for significant county corridors, and securing funding for major highway improvement projects.

Mr. Vetterlein was employed with the Chester County Planning Commission in suburban Philadelphia from 1989-1994. During this time Mr. Vetterlein led a team that collected all forms of traffic data throughout Chester County. Other responsibilities included forecasting corridor traffic growth rates, reviewing and writing traffic impact studies, and doing level of service studies for intersections with congestion problems.

Mr. Vetterlein has had extensive experience managing both large state contracts and small private jobs with Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. Mr. Vetterlein has managed the training and development of Tri-State Traffic Data field crews for over 15 years.

  Patrick Fiore
Patrick Fiore co-founded Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. in 1995 to provide a timely and cost effective way for traffic professionals to obtain accurate traffic data. Mr. Fiore has over 19 years experience in managing data collection projects and is well recognized by transportation professionals as an expert in the collection of traffic data. Mr. Fiore has been a key component in growing Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. into one of the largest exclusive data collection companies in the region. Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. has grown its client list to include over 50 traffic engineering firms and governmental agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States.

Mr. Fiore completed graduate studies in Urban and Regional planning at the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. While in graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh he was employed by the City of Pittsburgh and supervised the collection and analysis of parking data throughout the city. The results were incorporated into the city wide residential parking program.

Mr. Fiore was employed for over four years by the Chester County Planning Commission as a Transportation Planner where he was responsible for creating a county wide traffic data program including machine volume/class counts and manual turning movement counts. He was also responsible for reviewing all traffic impact studies that were submitted to the County for land developments.

Since co-founding Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc., Mr. Fiore has been the project manager on large statewide data collection projects for transportation departments in Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He has also served as the project manager on hundreds of traffic data studies for engineering firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic states.
