Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. was formed in 1995 as an exclusive traffic data collection company and incorporated in 1996. Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. is located in the Philadelphia metropolitan area centrally located to all major metropolitan areas in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States.

Past clients include state transportation departments, county transportation departments, transportation engineering firms and private companies seeking traffic data information.

Since its inception, Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. has successfully completed numerous traffic data collection projects including, but not limited to automatic traffic recorder counts, classification/speed studies, turning movement counts, origin-destination surveys and license plate surveys.

Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. has been able to grow its staff and client list by consistently completing all projects under strict deadlines to the complete satisfaction of the client. We are recognized as a leader in traffic data collection throughout the northeastern and mid-atlantic states.

Staff

Patrick Fiore

Patrick Fiore co-founded Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. in 1995 to provide a timely and cost effective way for traffic professionals to obtain accurate traffic data.  Mr. Fiore has over 15 years experience in managing data collection projects and is well recognized by transportation professionals as an expert in the collection of traffic data.  Mr. Fiore has been a key component in growing Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. into one of the largest exclusive data collection companies in the region.  Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. has grown its client list to include over 50 traffic engineering firms and governmental agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States.

Mr. Fiore completed graduate studies in Urban and Regional planning at the University of Pittsburgh in 1992.  While in graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh he was employed by the City of Pittsburgh and supervised the collection and analysis of parking data throughout the city.  The results were incorporated into the city wide residential parking program.

Mr. Fiore was employed for over four years by the Chester County Planning Commission as a Transportation Planner where he was responsible for creating a county wide traffic data program including machine volume/class counts and manual turning movement counts.  He was also responsible for reviewing all traffic impact studies that were submitted to the County for land developments.

Since co-founding Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc., Mr. Fiore has been the project manager on large statewide data collection projects for transportation departments in Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.  He has also served as the project manager on hundreds of traffic data studies for engineering firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic states.

James Vetterlein

James Vetterlein co-founded Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. in 1995.  Mr Vetterlein has over 18 years of traffic data collection experience in both the public and private sectors.  Mr Vetterlein led the growth of Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc. into one of the largest traffic data collection companies on the east coast with over 24 employees, 18 company vehicles and an inventory of over 300 ATR counters. 

Prior to starting Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc, Mr. Vetterlein was employed as the principal transportation planner with the Delaware County Planning Department in the suburban Philadelphia area.   Mr. Vetterlein directed a staff of four transportation planners that performed a wide range of traffic planning and data collection projects.  These projects include developing the first inventory of highway improvement needs, developing traffic growth rates for significant county corridors, and securing funding for major highway improvement projects.

Mr. Vetterlein was employed with the Chester County Planning Commission in suburban Philadelphia from 1987-1994 .  During this time Mr. Vetterlein  led a team that collected all forms of traffic data throughout Chester County.  Other responsibilities included forecasting corridor traffic growth rates, reviewing and writing traffic impact studies, and doing level of service studies for intersections with congestion problems.

Mr. Vetterlein has had extensive experience managing both large state contracts and small private jobs with Tri-State Traffic Data, Inc.  Mr. Vetterlein has managed the training and development of Tri-State Traffic Data field crews for over 10 years.

Responsible for supervising all private engineering firm traffic counts in the greater Mid-Atlantic Area.  Has conducted and organized over 700 manual turning movement counts and  ATR counts since November 1997.  Duties include arranging for the proper personnel for manual traffic counts, ATR placement, data processing and review.

Lynn Deremer, Senior Field Technician (August 1997 -Present)

Responsible for supervising all private engineering firm traffic counts in the greater Mid-Atlantic Area.  Has conducted and organized over 700 manual turning movement counts and  ATR counts since November 1997.  Duties include arranging for the proper personnel for manual traffic counts, ATR placement, data processing and review.

Aaron Chamberlain, Senior Field Technician (March 2001 – Present)

Responsible for all traffic data collection in New York Department of Transportation Region 3.  Has conducted over 1,500 ATR machine counts since March 2001. Duties include the identification of counts for the annual count schedule, proper placement of ATR machines, supervising and conducting manual turning movement counts, data retrieval, data review and submitting data to main office for final review and submission.

Gregory Lipski, Senior Field Technician (April 2003-Present)

Responsible for all traffic data collection in New York Department of Transportation Region 4-5.  Has conducted over 1,000 ATR machine counts since April 2003. Duties include the proper placement of ATR machines, data retrieval, data review and submitting data to main office for final review and submission.

Mike Meadows, Senior Field Data Technician (February 2005-Present)

Responsible for all traffic data collection in VDOT Bristol District.  Has conducted over 400 ATR machine counts since February 2005. Duties include the identification of counts for the annual count schedule, proper placement of ATR machines, supervising and conducting manual turning movement counts, data retrieval, data review and submitting data to main office for final review and submission.

Mariah Williams, Senior Field Data Technician (April 2005-Present)

Responsible for all traffic data collection in VDOT Bristol District.  Has conducted over 250 ATR machine counts since February 2005. Duties include the identification of counts for the annual count schedule, proper placement of ATR machines, supervising and conducting manual turning movement counts, data retrieval, data review and submitting data to main office for final review
